Boothbay Region Food Pantry, PO Box 63, East Boothbay, ME 04544
Formed in 1985, the Boothbay Region Food Pantry was started originally as an ecumenical committee from all the churches in the Boothbay Region. Since that time the Food Pantry has provided a week's supply of food with quantities varying by size of family. Non-perishable items are obtained largely by donation and church appeals with generous contributions made by local schools, the Y, and other local organizations. Vouchers are used at a local market to provide perishable items such as milk, eggs, and bread. In 2004, the average number of clients served monthly was 59 families representing 130 individuals. In December, 2010, the Food Pantry served 119 families representing 391 individuals.
